  • JumpStart/Bunfight review (Crwilliams)
    • They lost our presentation. See Irc rant. There was a further talk during the Labs induction.
    • Bunfight was reasonably successful. Colin caught flu. Most requests were around the provision of wireless in Halls. Pro Vice-Chancellor came to speak to us.
  • Wireless in Halls
    • iSolutions has been approached. Their policy looks like they may be amenable to this. See Secure IRC.

  • Location of future Meetings / Workshops (Crwilliams)
    • There may be a problem with the numbers of people being put off by the inaccessibility of the Demo Room. It was discussed what the feasability of using other places such as the Seminar Room in Zepler. The proposal is to move the Meetings to the Zepler.

      • Awaiting a fix of an ongoing multicast problem. Self-test messages are recognised as such. potential test point is to get Dev to shutdown or reboot on "self test"

    • Less nagging from Nagios (Crwilliams)
      • We have less nagging. There is still a lot of emails - especially to daveruss
    • Backup2/Backup3 debsum check "Unknown" for last 3-4 days (daveruss)
      • There has been work done on NRPE Warnings, which were occuring due to Socket timeouts. However there were 3 causes.
  • Projects
    • eduroam in halls
      • Davetaz suggests some basic hacking for students. Use wrt54gs or similar to allow them to learn about low level education. Thus we simply provide an authentication mechanism (ie RADIUS) and they simply use the hardware to bridge onto the halls network. (Either by using vlans or tunneling back into the IP address space).
    • OpenWRT backfire packages (Leth)

      • The firewall has been fixed however some NAT issues to be resolved.
