This is a guide for turning the OpenMesh OM2P into a SOWN node.

Flashing with OpenWRT

A detailed guide on flashing the node is available on the OpenWRT wiki at:

 http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/openmesh/om2p

You should use the following tool to flash things.....

 svn co http://dev.cloudtrax.com/downloads/svn/ap51-flash/trunk/ ap51-flash
 cd ap51-flash
 make

Sown Setup

Generic instructions for this can be found here.

  • Node box numbers in the 400-499 range should be used.

Sown Firmware Install

To Be Done

Boot Sequence Post-install

  1. Bootloader - WAN + Power solid
  2. Kernel loading - Power flashing fast
  3. System loading - Power flashing slowly
  4. System up - Power solid

Once the system is up, the other 3 LEDs have the following meanings:

LED Colour Meanings
WAN Blue
  • Off - VPN disconnected
  • Solid - VPN connection established
  • Flashing - VPN connection is being established
LAN Blue
  • Off - LAN connection disconnected
  • Solid - LAN connection connected, no traffic
  • Flashing - LAN connection connected, passing traffic
Wifi Green, Orange, Red
  • Off - Wifi is not up
  • Solid green - eduroam SSID is up
  • Flashing orange - Wifi is being enabled/disabled
  • Solid red - Unable to bring up the eduroam SSID
