The node was based on a 120Mhz Pentium desktop machine, which was fitted with a 4Gb HDD (Random spare from the bits box!), 32Mb Ram and two Netgear MA311 802.11b cards. A 15dB Parabolic Mesh antenna was used to uplink to FaradayNode, and in fine weather could sustain a 11Mbit link (Max bust data rate seen was about 1Mbit) but dropped out completely in heavy rain. A 5 dB Omni Antenna was attached to the other card, and provided AP using hostap. Limited Internet access (http, https, imap, imaps, pptp) was provided over my ADSL line, and received a handful of regular users.
Can't remember the exact prices, but the only purchased items were the two MA311's, a 15Db Parabolic Mesh antenna for the uplink, and a 5Db Indoor Omni for the AP.
