Meeting (to be) held on 2007/07/04 at 19:00 in Zepler CLS Lecture Room

Previous meeting: 26 June 2007 19:00:00 Next meeting: 10 July 2007 19:00:00

Agenda

  • Campus Servers - Pages Started on the Setup requirements for each

We now have 3 1U servers installed and running Debian. They are located both on the SOWN VLAN and the ECS Network, the best way to access the servers is to ssh to sown-test (user:sown pass: sown) and then ssh to vpn,nat & radius as root.

SOWN VPN has been set up with PoPTop VPN and RadiusClient which tries to authenticate to radius.sown.org.uk (10.13 only) SOWN VPN also will host the SOWN DNS server which will respond to requests from 10.13.0.0/16 and the network is sown.org.uk

  • Report on state on campus nodes

SOWN-Faraday has been removed and SOWN-Faraday-nat is considered skipped.

  • SOWRCE Forge

Code repository for sown code, it has been created on the ugforge server. Users will need to register to use the service.

  • Logging & Authentication

This is an issue on the network. We need Radius logs which relate users to an ip/location at a particular time, which is easy. Other information on what we are logging has been with held from the public minutes.

We also agreed that non-soton users cannot connect to campus nodes but can register to use SOWN[at]HOME and they should be encouraged to set up a SOWN[at]HOME node.

  • Review of SOWN[at]HOME APs and possibilities for better hardware?

Meraki - Contact them to find out about shipping and costs. Also ask about batches. Some of these? - http://www.misco.co.uk/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=249032&CatId=355 WHR-HP-AG108-1

  • Shopping List update, more kipple?

There is a general appeal at the end of this meeting to find a more ideal solution for the SOWN[at]HOME hardware and a couple of links are above. Availability of the hardware is more important than the price.

Feel free to suggest stuff to us at sown@ecs.soton.ac.uk

Next Meeting: Tuesday 10th July 7pm
